Sourdough doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. Although, I remember how intimidated I was the first time I made it. My friend recorded a how-to video just for feeding the starter. Which made me think, why not create a post – Sourdough for Beginners – and why anyone can keep a starter alive or make all kinds of fun recipes!!
In this post, I’ll show you how to feed your sourdough starter, share recipes to the matched photos, and I’ve also linked a Sourdough for Beginners starter pack. You just need the starter – you can choose to make your own, get starter from someone local, or purchase dried starter from online sellers like Ballerina Farms.
Grab your apron, let’s make some sourdough bread, bagels, or biscuits! Sourdough for Beginners 101:
- Feeding your starter.
I use the 1:1:1 method. This means your sourdough starter, flour and filtered water are all equal parts. Below is a how-to video for feeding your starter!
The easiest, well only, sourdough bread recipe I’ve used is this one, HERE. It’s so simple. I go one step further and skip the folding while it rises. Once I put the dough in the bowl to rise, it sits for all 5 hours – I don’t touch it. Lazy girl’s guide to sourdough bread!?
Your sourdough starter kit – everything is linked for you on Amazon HERE.
Biscuit recipe HERE.
Unlike most sourdough recipes, these can be made in 30 mins – including cook time!
While your bread bakes, should we start planning your family photos??
